M3 Discussion: Examining Social Structure
Human beings a social beings and exists along some default groups which end up forming the society. There are quite a number of dimensions and perspectives along which social structure are defined, one of them including the social network analysis which is basically inclined along the assumption that relationships among interacting units are very important in learning the social structures and the society as a whole. From the social network analysis perspective, social structure includes the distinct, organized and conscious set of social institutions and patterns that are institutionalized setups that collectively make the society (Turner, 2014).
Generally a social structure is both a result of social interaction, and also a direct determinant of social interaction. Basically, social structures may not be fast-hand visible and pronounced to a lay man, but they are always very present and greatly affect considerably all the human experience dimensions in the society. In a nutshell, a social structure basically refers to the consistent and enduring patterned and orderly relationships that exists between different societal elements (Turner, 2014).
The social structure is coined around some very key components. One of this components is the norms. Norms are the expectations that act as a guide to behavior in the society. Norms basically explain why a person in a given society will do or behave in certain way different to another person in a different social structure in the same situation. The other key component of social structure includes the role and statues of individuals that make the society. For the desires, expectations and aspirations of the society to be met, there must be roles and statues which are taken up by different individuals, and which the individuals must also realize and articulate fully. Another important component is the goal of the social structure. This is the target that the whole social structure runs on and strives to achieve (Turner, 2014).
The components greatly help us to well under the social structures. They help us appreciate the differences in our social structures and the why people behave differently yet they are in the same condition. Social structure components define the social structure and the dynamics there in the structure. It is because of the goal, the role and the norms according to ,one’s social structure that make them who they are, the way they behave, and what they believe in (Turner, 2014).
There are various components of social networking that assists in its operation. Among them are the profile and feed and perhaps easy interaction between the users of the network system (Turner, 2014). The profile and feed assist the system in creation of a platform that will allow the user to access the site very efficiently. Due to the availability of the various social networks profile and feed, it is now very easy to understand the social dynamics in the market and perhaps the social processes that are around us.
